思克莱德大学（University of Strathclyde）,曾译为斯特拉斯克莱德大学,其历史可以追溯到1796年，当时格拉斯哥大学的John Anderson教授决心创办一所大学——一个“实用的学习的地方”（a place of useful learning），面向所有的人——无论性别和阶层，这在当时的英国是开历史先河的壮举。
